Uzbekistan to host the Open Ice Hockey Championship

The Ice Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan will hold the Open Championship of the Republic of Uzbekistan among men’s teams in the 2025/26 season. 

Five teams will participate in the championship: three from Uzbekistan and two from Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan will be represented in the tournament by the teams “Humo” (Tashkent), “Sherdor” (Samarkand) and “Binokor” (Tashkent), and from Kyrgyzstan, the sports schools “Alga” and “Uchur” will play in the championship, both clubs represent the city of Bishkek.

The first scheduled matches of the championship will be held in Bishkek at the Bishkek Arena. They will be held from November 6 to November 10.

This is the first season when the Uzbek championship gets the open status, in previous years it was attended exclusively by local teams. The participation of foreign teams will contribute to improving the skills of the players, as well as give an impetus to the development of hockey in the region. 

The players of the local teams will form the basis of the junior and men’s national teams of Uzbekistan, which will participate in the IIHF World Championships in March and April 2026. The upcoming Open Championship will be an important stage in the preparation for this tournament.
