The U-20 Junior World Championship (IIHF Division III-B) was held in Bishkek from January 18 to 24. Kyrgyzstan national team roster included players born in 2009 and 2010 who participated in training program at the Neftyanik ice hockey training center. These are forwards Umar Egemberdiev, Alikhan Ali-Askarov and defender Kamal Alybaev.
Kyrgyzstan national team finished the tournament undefeated, beating rivals from Iran, Hong Kong, South Africa, Luxembourg and Mexico. With 15 points, the tournament hosts became the winners of their division.
Alikhan Ali-Askarov became the championship top-scorer with 20 points (10+10) and was recognized as the best striker of the tournament, while Umar Egemberdiev scored 17 points (10+7) and was recognized as the most valuable player of the competition.
