Tatneft will repay the carbon emissions generated by the teams and fans during the flight to Kazan and arrival at the arena, and the calculations also take into account the energy costs of Tatneft Arena during a hockey match.
Due to compensatory measures, the Evergreen Derby match became the first hockey game in Russia with a carbon-neutral status.
The Evergreen Derby is an environmental project within the framework of the fundamental confrontation between Ak Bars Kazan and Salavat Yulaev Ufa. In the 2024/25 season, each match between teams from neighboring republics is dedicated to a separate environmental theme. At the end of the season, Tatneft will plant one tree on the border of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan for each spectator who attended the matches of the “Evergreen Derby” season.
