Anton Tsibin, Ilya Drozdetskikh and Valery Budevich will play for the Kuwait national team at the Asian Winter Games in China. The tournament will be held from February 3 to February 15 in Harbin.
Defender Anton Tsibin has been playing in Kuwait since 2022 for the local Kuwait Warriors. The hockey player was immediately announced for the national team at the Arab Cup, where the naturalization rule does not apply. In the national championship, Tsibin has impressive statistics: 41 games, 209 points (99+110) with a score of +225. Dmitry is a graduate of Tyumen ice hockey, known in Russia for his performances for the Tyumen Legion in the MHL, as well as Rubin, Zauralie and Ermak in the VHL.
Ilya Drozdetskikh is another native of Tyumen in the Kuwait national team. The forward passed the Ugra system. He performed in Mammoths of Ugra and Zauralye. Drozdetskikh, like Tsibin, has been playing for Kuwait Warriors since 2022. However, Ilya has already officially played for his new country. It was in 2024 at the World Cup, which was held in Kuwait. Ilya was one of the team leaders in that team and scored 17 points (7+10) in three matches.
Valery Budevich is a Belarusian striker for Kuwait Stars. He also competed at the Arab Cup in 2023. Budevich is the first and only Belarusian to play in the Kuwaiti championship. The striker moved in 2022, before that he played in his homeland for the second team of Neman from Grodno.
Also playing for the Kuwait team will be goalkeeper Adam Barvik and striker Kamil Varva from the Czech Republic, and the legend of Kuwaiti hockey, Serbian striker Bojan Zidarevic, who has been not only playing in the country for 15 years, but also working as a coach.
It should be noted that all these players have not only sports, but also actual citizenship of Kuwait. According to the rules of the tournament, invited hockey players from other countries cannot play for the national teams of the countries.
