Kuwait’s national ice hockey team became the bronze medalist of the Division IV tournament of the IIHF World Championship in Yerevan.

All sets of awards were drawn between the main favorites of the tournament: Armenia, Uzbekistan and Kuwait. The allocation of places was decided in face-to-face meetings between the teams.

Uzbekistan won gold medals with 13 points in 5 matches, Armenia gained silver with 12 points in 5 matches, and Kuwait scored 11 points and rounded out the Top-3 of the championship.

Kuwait has been competing in the fourth division for the fourth year in a row and finished in the top three for the third time in a row after last year’s silver medals.

This year, the team scored 56 goals, and Ilya Drozdetskikh became the tournament leader in the number of assists (23) and points (36). He was followed by defenceman Anton Tcibin, who amazingly led the tournament with 14 goals and had 35 points. Both players tied for the tournament plus/minus lead with +29.

ADIHIC congratulates the Kuwait national team on their successful performance at the World Championship and wishes them further hockey development and new achievements!
