The Montreal Tatar Association in collaboration with the Tatars of the United States is organizing an ice hockey match for the Querdeslek (Brotherhood) Cup which brings together the Tatars of North America including Canada and the United States.

This will be the 6th match played since 2017 and the first match on the territory of the United States.

The game will take place on April 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (UTC -4) in Burlington VT on the ice of the Leddy Park Arena. Prizes and trophies await participants.

Hockey is a great passion for both Tatars and Canadians. According to the organizers of the match, a tradition was established in 2017: bringing together ice hockey players, their families and friends every year for a friendly game. It is also an opportunity to speak the Tatar language and promote Tatar culture, while providing a chance to integrate newly arrived Tatars into Canadian society.

In Russia, Tatars make up a large part of the country’s population. They are the second largest ethnic group in Russia after Russians.
