Kazakhstan national ice hockey team won its first group stage match of the IIHF World Championship in Herning, Denmark.
In the first game of Group B, Kazakhstan beat Norway with a score of 2:1. Kazakhstan responded to Johannes Johannessen’s only goal with goals from Roman Starchenko and Vadim Volkov.
Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko and defender Vadim Volkov made their international debuts for the national team of Kazakhstan. It should be noted that Maxim was recognized as the best player of the match against Norway, and Vadim his first goal for the national team. Forward Vyacheslav Kolesnikov and defender Eduard Mikhailov also made their international debuts for Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan will play its second match in the group stage of the tournament today. The game against the German national team will start at 5:20 PM (UTC +3) Moscow time.
